Bridgeport hosted a federation wrestling tournament this past Sunday, with both gyms full of pre-K through eighth grade boys and girls, fighting for a spot on the top of the podium. Bridgeport Wrestling Club took fifth place overall out of the twenty-five participating teams. There were 350 little grapplers in the house, with 45 from Bridgeport’s club.
Placing first for the Bridgeport Wrestling Club girls was Piper Harris-Miller in the PreK2nd 42-43-lb. bracket. She won by major decision over Grace Svalina of Sidney. In the 52-lb. bracket was Lennon Dean in the top spot, with a pin over Charlee Shrewsbury at the two-minute mark. Also in first place was Kaya Hoerler, with a 1:00 fall over Sawyer Mitchell of Sidney in the 72-78-lb. bracket.
Brynn Little took first in the 3rd-5th grade 72-75-lbs spot with a major decision over Sierra Jordan of Alliance, and a decision over Heather Gompert of Pride Wrestling.
