While in the board of equalization meeting, Metz brought up the concern that farm/ranch sites also increased in tax value by 28%. In some cases, if the residence is not parceled separately from the ranch/farm, this also increases the land value. Nelson has based the rural increase on recent sales and is set on her increase. To avoid having the land increase along with a residence, as constituents, you are able to parcel the residence separately and turn it into rural residential.
Morrill County Community Hospital has accepted a contract to serve the Sidney area with their Advanced Life Support service. The city of Sidney and the Cheyenne County Commissioners are covering the cost of the ambulances and Sidney Regional Medical Center is covering the cost of using their ambulance barn. Income and expenses will be the responsibility of Morrill County Community Hospital.
The 2022-23 budget was amended to add a line item that was accidentally left out of the budget previously.The amended budget was approved In previous meetings, the board had entertained the sale of a Northport property that never received any bids. A constituent had approached the county about a contract sale.There is a previously vacated road next to that parcel.The county will combine that vacated road with the previously discussed parcel and accept $100 for the entire parcel.
