Shane Brown and the Get Down band helped the residents of Skyview Care and Rehab of Bridgeport celebrate America’s Independence on Wednesday, June 28, with a concert prior to their fireworks show. Residents and their families enjoyed the evening together, dancing and singing along to their favorite local band after dinner was served. Many families attended the supper.
Activity Directory Tammy Berry set up the event, knowing what a fun tradition the fireworks have become, and anticipated the band would bring a lot of smiles. She said, “There are some residents who don’t come out of their rooms very often, and they were really having fun. Some residents danced with employees. Most were tapping their feet and clapping their hands along with the music.”
Following the festivities indoors, the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department blocked off the side street to set off fireworks from a nearby trailer. Residents were able to go outside and line the sidewalk a safe distance away. Many family and community members came out to watch with them.
