Board approves raise for teachers

The Bridgeport School Board held their regular meeting on January 16th with all board members present along with the administration and Ms.Vonnie Brown.The meeting started with all members present including new member Jim Lapaseotes taking the oath of office.The board then elected officers with Justin Corman continuing as president, Jeff Pohl as vice president, Linda Norman as secretary and Kay Anderson as treasurer In action items the board approved the negotiated agreement with the teachers and that will raise the base $1,250.00 and change some wording with the sick bank.This was just over a 3% raise.The board named Platte Valley as the financial depository for the year.

The board accepted letters of resignation from Mr. and Mrs. Lambert. Superintendent Lambert has accepted a superintendency in Rose Hill, Kansas (suburb of Wichita), which is close to where their daughter Molly lives. Over the next three weeks the board will take a close look at the possibility of filling the superintendent position from within the district as the board is aware that a cross the state the pool of candidates for superintendent openings is very small. Mr. Schlothauer has the required education and certification for the position. On January 23rd the board will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. to go over Mr. Schlothauer’s current performance as principal. No action will be taken at the meeting and it is likely most of the meeting will be in executive session.

In administrative reports the following was covered: 1. Curriculum - The 6-12 ELA curriculum committee met and has decided to replace our 6-12th grade curriculum with StudySync.The cost is around $60,000.
