Bridgeport band member, incoming senior Cassandra Hopwood, has recently returned from a sixteen-day tour of Europe encompassing five countries, playing her saxophone in concerts in England, France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. Hopwood travelled with the Nebraska Ambassadors of Music program. She had been hoping to go ever since her older brother went in 2015.

Hopwood was nominated for the musical trip by Bridgeport Director of Bands Doug Babic, who said, “Cassie worked very hard on her audition music and wanted to be nothing less than her best. She always wants to do anything extra; she made the Masonic All Star Marching Band twice, so her making this group is no surprise.”

Following Hopwood’s audition at Henderson, Nebraska, for the touring group, she waited to learn her outcome and if accepted, which chair she would sit. After she was accepted, along with 350 other high school band students across the state, she traveled back to Henderson for rehearsals and then later to Wayne State University for a three-day camp with rehearsals. There, she was able to meet the students she would be traveling with and get to know the girls with whom she would be rooming.
