The Bridgeport Bombers senior legion baseball team had its season come to an end during the Class C, Area 7 Tournament last weekend in Valentine. In the opening round of the double- elimination tournament on Friday, the Bombers gave second- seeded Imperial all it could handle before falling 3-0.

Bridgeport then faced Hershland in an elimination game on Saturday. Despite a fast start that saw the Bombers build leads of 3-0 and 11-9, the bats went quiet as Hershland surged to a 19-11 victory. The Trojans pulled away with a seven-run seventh inning.

Despite the losses, Bomber head coach Chuck Murrell once again praised the play of his scrappy squad. “We came into the tournament confident knowing that our difficult schedule prepared us,” Murrell said. “We definitely proved that we belonged.”
