Bridgeport Schools has had many successful programs and accomplishments, but one of the most recent ones is the Little Bridges Preschool that began on Monday.When Mr. Lambert decided to add a preschool, Stacey Watts felt it was her time to go back to the little kids. As a veteran teacher, this will be Watts’ eighteenth year of teaching: she graduated from Chadron State College in 2005, and taught kindergarten at Garden Ridge Elementary in Flower Mound,Texas for 3 years.
Shortly after, she moved back to Bridgeport with her family to be closer to her parents and grandma. At the time, there were no openings for a teaching position, so she began her own preschool and daycare.This was very successful for the year that she did it, until Stacey got a job at Bridgeport Public Schools as a second-grade teacher.
Watts taught second grade for one year until she moved up to fifth grade, where she has taught for the last fourteen years. She is looking forward to the switch from fifth grade to preschool, saying, “I really enjoy this age and their love for life. I’m looking forward to all of the new experiences for the fouryear- olds and to working alongside their parents. I’ll definitely miss the older kids, but I’m hoping there’ll be other opportunities throughout the school year to connect with them.”
