Bridgeport Public Schools welcomes Gering native Jason Blanco as the new secondary principal following the promotion of George Schlothauer from that position to Superintendent of Schools at Bridgeport. The superintendent’s position opened when Chuck Lambert, who had held the position for a number of years, took another position in Kansas.

Blanco comes to Bridgeport from Bluffs Middle School, where he shared the responsibility of assistant athletic director and assistant principal for the past several years. A 1993 graduate of Gering High School, Blanco received his Bachelor of Arts in secondary education from Ottawa University in 2006 and a Master of Education from Chadron State college in 2015.

Blanco decided to become a teacher and coach because he felt he had always worked well with kids. He then moved into administration, saying, “I wanted to become an administrator because I figured I could make a larger impact on a greater number of students.”
