During the Minuteman Activities Conference basketball tournament this past week, Leyton Warriors walked away with the championship trophy, while the Lady Warriors earned the runner-up spot.

In boys action, Leyton took out Minatare on home court, 69--25, before conquering Bayard 55-35 on Friday, then a closer score of 51-42 over Potter-Dix on Saturday in the doghouse in Bridgeport.Team leaders for the Warriors were Dillon Juelfs with 17.6 points averaged per game, Jonathan Kruse with an average of 8.2 rebounds per game, Justin Ernest with 3.9 assists and 4 steals per game. Following the tournament, the Warriors are 14-0 on the season and first in the D1 District 12 standings.They will compete against Minatare at home on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Lady Warriors started out the tournament with a bye during the week, followed by a one-point win over Garden County on Friday, 42-41. After a loss to Bayard 38-43 on Saturday in the Championship game, they ended up in the second place spot.The team is now 9-3 on the season and first in the D2 District 11 standings.Team leaders are Zaili Benish, averaging 23.6 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.6 steals per game, and Sydney Fortune with 7.1 rebounds averaged per game.The girls will play Hemingford tonight at home at 5:30 p.m., and Minatare tomorrow in Dalton prior to the boys game.
