Bridgeport cross country runners hosted the annual Run at the Rocks Bridgeport Invite on Tuesday last week, with the varsity boys taking the top spot in the day’s 5K event. The Lady Bulldogs placed fourth overall behind Hemingford, Mullen, and Gordon-Rushville. Varsity runner Ron Varner was the sole top ten finish for the men’s division, with a 10th place spot.
Taylor Bright placed 9th in the women’s division.
Bright, a sophomore, sprinted over the finish line at 23:01, four seconds ahead of her closest rival. Elizabeth Velasquez ended in 12th place with a time of 23:22, Madison Ribble, 15th place at 23:47, and Kyra Sikes-Robbins in 18th place with a time of 24:38.
