Lady Bulldogs 3-peat as SPVA champs; Bridgeport boys finish second

More history was made by the Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs basketball team last weekend in North Platte as they won the South Platte Valley Association tournament for a third straight year. After disposing of Chase County 66-23 in the semifinals, Bridgeport rolled past Hershey 85-41 in the championship game to complete the 3-peat.

The final proved especially special as senior Ruthie Loomis- Goltl broke the school record for points in a game with 40.

Loomis-Goltl, who also owns a number of other school records, surpassed the previous single-game scoring mark of 38 that was set by Kirsten Faessler in 1990. “It’s not a goal I was focused on for this season, but I’m grateful to have teammates who are so willing to feed me the ball and hit whoever is hot on any certain night,” Loomis-Goltl said of the record. “As a post player, breaking the record would’ve been impossible without teammates who love to share the ball. It feels good to have another opportunity to leave my mark on this program.”
