The Bridgeport girls and boys basketball teams wrapped up another busy week with a sweep of Morrill County rival Bayard on Saturday at Bridgeport High School. Bridgeport, which has dominated the Tigers on the hardwood in recent years, picked up double-digit wins in both contests. Thanks to a 28-0 run to open the game, the undefeated Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 77-16 win.
Bridgeport led 34-4 at the end of the first quarter and held a 56-10 advantage at halftime. In addition to the surge to open the game, Bridgeport also put together runs of 13-0 and 9-0 in the first 16 minutes to put the game out of reach early.
“It’s really hard when the score gets out of hand like that to keep your intensity up,” Lady Bulldog coach Dave Kuhlen said. “I thought the girls did the best that they could under the circumstances.”
