Bridgeport comes together to house bus load of stranded university students

What was supposed to be an organized potluck and overnight homestay turned into a two-night, three-day endeavor for those involved with the Doane University Choir tour.The university students were to be housed with several area families after their concert in Bridgeport Tuesday night, January 17, and returned to the school by 7:30 Wednesday morning. However, the wild winter weather rendered that plan useless.

What was supposed to be an organized potluck and overnight homestay turned into a two-night, three-day endeavor for those involved with the Doane University Choir tour.The university students were to be housed with several area families after their concert in Bridgeport Tuesday night, January 17, and returned to the school by 7:30 Wednesday morning. However, the wild winter weather rendered that plan useless.

The choir group, on a five state, eight-day tour, performed a concert from the Bridgeport auditorium on Tuesday evening.

The group sang with the junior high and high school choirs at Bridgeport, and sang their own pieces, as well. A special performance by Doublewide, a men’s ensemble, included Bridgeport alums Elijah and Lucas Smith.
