For the second year in a row, Bridgeport’s play production team took their one act all the way to the Johnny Carson Theatre in Norfolk, Nebraska, for the state competition. Class C productions were Thursday last week and Bridgeport earned a fourth place finish, an improvement over a sixth place spot last year.
This year’s performance, “A Girl Called Opal,” was a triple winner in Western Nebraska, taking the top spot for both the Western Trails Conference, and the Southern Platte Valley Association before winning the District Championship at home in late November.
Bridgeport has previously qualified for State Play Production in 1986, 1990, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2017, and 2022. The team earned state runner-up in 2007 and state champion in 2009.
