Bridgeport and Bayard Volunteer Fire Departments battled a blaze in subzero temperatures on Sunday midday, when the home of Ashley Gardner on 4th Street went up in flames at Lakeview Trailer Court.
According to the incident report from the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office, the call came into dispatch at 11:36 a.m. with the caller reporting that her water heater and home were on fire. Bridgeport Fire Department was called out immediately and were enroute to the fire ten minutes later. Bayard fire responded shortly thereafter.
The smoke eaters worked for the better part of the afternoon to contain the blaze and keep property around it from catching fire. The Fire Marshall also responded to the scene. Morrill County Advance Life Support remained on location while the firefighters did their work, but no injuries were reported.
