Bridgeport wrestlers grapple hard this season

Bridgeport girls wrestled on Saturday, January 13, at the Gering Girls Invite, placing fifth out of eight teams, and Saturday, January 20, at Chadron.

Bridgeport girls wrestled on Saturday, January 13, at the Gering Girls Invite, placing fifth out of eight teams, and Saturday, January 20, at Chadron.

At Gering, earning a firstplace spot on the 125-pound division podium was junior Kyra Robbins. Robbins, who is 20-3 overall this season, pinned Trista Kant of Central in two minutes, Ashley Garza of Bayard in 55 seconds, Macie Vallejo of Mitchell in 1:32, and Kaiana Garlough of Central in 3:10. Her win over Lydia Newhoff, a freshman, came via forfeit.

Jayden Mueller took home a second-place medal in the 155-pound division, pinning Jaelyn Yetter of Mitchell in a mere nine seconds. Hayden Marks also grabbed second place, hers in the 170-pound spot. Her pin over Victoria Burns came at the six-minute mark. She also beat Memphis Erdman of Mitchell with a 6-2 decision.
