For the first time since joining the conference, the Bridgeport basketball teams swept the championships of the South Platte Valley Association Tournament last weekend in North Platte.
The top-seeded Lady Bulldogs completed a 4-peat with a 68-27 win over Hershey in the title game after routing Chase County 65-25 in the semifinals. Dave Kuhlen’s squad has now won the SPVA title four straight years.
Leading Hershey just 19-16 in the second quarter of the championship, the Lady Bulldogs blitzed the Panthers with a 49-11 run to end the game in style. Much of that scoring was done by Olivia Loomis-Goltl and Ella Schluterbusch, who both finished the contest scoring 21 points each.That was a career-high total for Schluterbusch, who sank five 3-pointers. Grace Dean also scored in double figures with 12 points.
