Two Bridgeport girls wrestle at state

Bridgeport junior Kyra Robbins and sophomore Morgan Amateis qualified for the Nebraska School Activities Association 2024 state wrestling championships. Robbins wrestles in the girls 125-pound division and Amateis in the girls 110-pound bracket.

Bridgeport junior Kyra Robbins and sophomore Morgan Amateis qualified for the Nebraska School Activities Association 2024 state wrestling championships. Robbins wrestles in the girls 125-pound division and Amateis in the girls 110-pound bracket.

Robbins, third seed, wrestled second seed Libby Sutton of Weeping Water in the first round, and came out on the small end of a 17-2 decision. In round two, she took on Grace Neemann, fourth seed of Waverly. Neemann ended up on top with an 11-4 decision. Robbins ends her season 32-6.

Amateis, who was 26-10 going into the season and ranked third in the tournament, fell in the first round to number two freshman Drea Kruse of Omaha Skutt Catholic in a 4-1 decision. In round two, she fought Jorja Boller, the fourth seed sophomore of Beatrice, and fell to Boller 1-5. She ends her season 26-12.
