For the third straight year, the Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs captured the championship of the Western Trails Conference basketball tournament. In dominating fashion, Bridgeport blew out both of its opponents in the tournament at Western Nebraska Community College’s Cougar Palace in claiming a second conference tournament title after winning the South Platte Valley Association crown just a couple weeks ago.
After blowing past Mitchell 68-27 in the semifinals on Friday, the Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 7540 victory over Gordon-Rushville in Saturday’s final to complete a 3-peat asWTC champs. “We have put in a lot of work these three and four past years and it feels good to have it come full circle my senior year and get a third one before we head to postseason play,” senior Ruthie Loomis- Goltl said. “It is really special. This team means a lot to me, and we worked really hard these past four years with this group.”
Ruthie Loomis-Goltl paced Bridgeport with 22 points in the title game. Olivia Loomis-Goltl followed with 17, Brooklyn Mohrman had 12, and Ella Schluterbusch finished with 11.
