For the second time in four years, the Bridgeport girls and boys basketball teams both qualified for the state tournament in Lincoln after claiming district championships.
The Lady Bulldogs, who are making their fourth straight appearance at state, will face Minden in the first round today at 9:45 a.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.They are taking a perfect 25-0 record into the C-1 tournament after beating Gordon-Rushville 67-49 in the C1-4 district final. It marked the Lady Bulldogs’ third win over the Mustangs this season.
“It really was unbelievable that we ended up playing them again, but you have to show up and play who’s in front of you,” Bridgeport head coach Dave Kuhlen said. “It will help us that we were in a competitive ball game tonight.We got through it and we’re going to state again.”
