The POD Report

The real housewives

“The Real Housewives” franchise on Bravo consists of a group of wealthy—or pretending to be wealthy—women in various cities around the world (but mostly the United States) who spend money frivolously, dress in designer labels (some real, some faux), and fight like cats and dogs—even occasionally getting arrested. There’s a plethora of podcasts that lampoon, dissect and even show compassion for these aging Barbies clinging to their final 15 minutes of fame, but these five podcasts below are the best of the bunch: “Everything Iconic With Danny Pellegrino”—While host Danny Pellegrino doesn’t devote every episode to “Housewives,” he’s at his wittiest when he does. Pellegrino’s fans in Reddit forums praise his content for being like “a warm hug” and “frequently hilarious.” They emphatically state that “all of Danny’s takes are correct.” If Bravo isn’t your fare, look for interviews with other celebrity guests like singer Jason Mraz, former “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson and “Goosebumps” author R.L. Stine. (Everything-Iconic.com) “Watch What Crappens”— Ben Mandelker and Ronnie Karam met when they were blogging for the TVgasm website. Thankfully, their podcast was invented, and we now get to hear them recap “Housewives” and other TV shows with hilarious, spot-on impersonations.

Comedian Bill Burr is also a fan and even compared them to the impressionists on “Saturday Night Live.” Just be careful if you’re driving while listening— it’s hard to focus on the road when your eyes are tearing up with laughter. (Wondery) “Two Ts in a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge”—If you get fired from “Housewives,” you can always fall back on podcasting.Teddi Mellencamp was booted from the “Beverly Hills” franchise, and Tamra Judge was fired (and eventually rehired) from “Orange County.” But now they’re raking it in gossiping about their former co-stars. Judge even addresses her feud with former “Orange County” besties Shannon Beador and Vicki Gunvalson in a special episode titled “Tres Amigas Drama.” (iHeart- Podcasts)
