County reviews tax sale report

The Morrill County Commissioners discussed the need to sell a vacant lot in Northport to an interested party. The claims were approved except payment to the county weed supervisor, Cody Renkoski due to his lack of certification.

The Morrill County Commissioners discussed the need to sell a vacant lot in Northport to an interested party. The claims were approved except payment to the county weed supervisor, Cody Renkoski due to his lack of certification.

County Treasurer Loretta McCoy presented the Tax Sale Report for receipt.There were 268 parcels advertised and the total of the taxes, not interest or fees, was $147,576.79.Taxes in the amount of $52,684 25 was paid before the sale.There were 90 parcels remaining the day of the sale, the taxes were $94,892.44 and we sold 52 parcels for $49,817.50. So the remaining that did not sell is $45,014.04.There were more local people at the sale than in prior years.

Sheriff Cardenas presented the need for repairs and maintenance in the county jail, including fixing plumbing, shower, and flooring, as well as addressing water leaks and roof repairs. The commissioners encouraged him to look at using some of the American Rescue Plan Act funds to pay for the needed repairs.
