Menke is State Champion

Bridgeport eighth grader Elizabeth Menke wrestled for the Bayard Wrestling Club at the 2024 Nebraska USA State Championship in Grand Island.

Menke wrestled in the 113-lb bracket. After a bye in the first round, she wrestled McKenna Kreikemeier of Bennington, felling her in two minutes and forty-eight seconds with a pin. In round two, Menke wrestled Jocelyn Judd of Lincoln Girls, and dropped her with a pin at 1:33 before taking on Zoe Jones of Broken Bow, pinning her in 46 seconds before heading to the championship round.

In the final match, Menke took on Aubrey Johnson of Beatrice, pinning her in one minute flat to take home the winner’s hardware.
