Bulldogs open track and field season with several high finishes

The Bridgeport track and field teams enjoyed plenty of success at the season-opening Morrill Early Bird Invitational held Saturday in Morrill.

Behind double-winner Grace Dean, the Lady Bulldogs earned a runner-up finish with a final point tally of 68. Morrill won the girls’ team title with a winning score of 88.5. Bayard and Leyton shared third place with 59 points each.

Dean swept the throwing events. She won the shot put with a mark of 37 feet, 9 inches and sailed the platter a distance of 113-9 to capture the top finish in the discus.
