The Leyton track and field teams posted several successful results at the Burns Invitational held Friday in Burns,Wyoming.
Zaili Benish picked up the school’s only first-place finish as she continued her impressive season on the track. Benish won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.42 seconds and placed third in the 100 hurdles in a time of 17.08. She also ran a leg on the Warriors’ 4x100 and 4x400 relays that each finished second.The foursome of Benish, Riley Jones, Claire Watchorn, and Shawnee Gamble took second in the 4x100 in a time of 52.6 seconds.The same quartet ended second in the 4x400 with a time of 4 minutes, 26.15 seconds.
Gamble added a third-place finish in the open 400 with a time of 1:02.42. Macey Roelle finished sixth in 1:06.96.Watchorn placed second in the discus with a mark of 114 feet, 6 inches. Jones finished third in the high jump by clearing 4-10. Faith Lee placed sixth in the 800 in 2:49.85.
