Sarah Paisley, the Morrill County Extension Educator/Unit Leader discussed the existing positions in her office and requested the flexibility to make some changes in roles and responsibilities. She updates the board on the progress in hiring a Food Nutrition Educator. She mentioned that there used to be two positions in the office, part time office manager and a full time teaching assistant, that were combined into one position the make it competitive. The challenge has been that when that individual is out of the office teaching, the office is closed.
Paisley asked the board for permission to split the responsibilities back into two positions using her current budget and then hire a part-time office manager in July to work three days a week. The board discussed with her some ways to save some money in the next fiscal year, as well as an increase to her budget, to give her the flexibility to make these changes. Paisley stated that she thinks that the numbers of kids participating in 4-H could be increased significantly.
The commissioners met as the board of equalization to remove two horse trailers from the personal property tax list.
