Mrs. Watts’ fifth

Mrs
Mrs. Watts’ fifth

Mrs. Watts’ fifth grade classroom students spent time last week creating six care packages for active duty military members. The students enjoyed packing the items and writing cards thanking the recipients for their service. There were several items in each box; socks, gloves, candy, beef jerky, baby wipes, peanuts, and so much more. The fifth graders hope to hear back from the soldiers about their experiences in the military, different missions they’ve encountered, and how they can help in the future. Mrs. Watts enjoys this project every year with her students and feels like it’s something that will continue with the students
throughout their life. She says, “Joining the military might not be for everyone, but there’s always ways to support our soldiers on the front lines from home. They are making a huge sacrifice for our freedom, and we always need to remember that. Special thanks to Bridgeport Public Schools for always covering the costs of mailing the packages.”
