BROOKINGS, SD—Jordan Wagner will compete in the 77th Annual Miss South Dakota Scholarship Competition May 30th through June 1st atThe Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center in Brookings, SD.Wagner is originally from Bridgeport, NE, daughter of Brad & Alecia Wagner, and attends Paul Mitchell The School in Rapid City. She currently holds the title of Miss McCrory Gardens.Wagner is one of 20 delegates hoping to be crowned the next Miss South Dakota and compete in the Miss America competition in early 2025.
The theme of this year’s program is Swingin’ Glam with delegates judged on interviews, talent, and red carpet. As part of the competition, each candidate champions a social impact project. Wagner has selected Agriyouth: The Next Generation of Agriculture which focuses on discussing with students how they can be involved in agriculture.Wagner has been actively donating seed packets and talking with classes about how they can continue to be involved at home to stop the aging agriculture workers.
Throughout its 77-year history, the Miss South Dakota program has impacted 18,000 young women. Last year, over $56,000 in scholarships were awarded during the three-day event. The Miss South Dakota Scholarship Program is a means for statewide awareness of the Miss America and Miss America’s Teen programs.Their mission is to uphold the four points of the crown: Service, Scholarship, Success, and Style.The Miss South Dakota Competition is an official preliminary of the Miss America Competition, the nation’s leading achievement program and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance to young women.
