Bridgeport finishes music year with spring concert

The Bridgeport Junior/Senior high School held their spring concert on May 7.The junior high band, under the direction of Doug Babic, played “Moai,” by Michael Sweeney, followed by “You’re Welcome,” from “Moana,” arrangesd by Matt Conaway.That was followed by “Smoke on the Water,” arranged by Paul Murtha and “Warriors of the 16th Empire,” by Randall Standridge.The percussion ensemble then played “Spicy Chicken Sandwich,” by Matthew Curley.

The senior high band led off with “Dance of the Shadows,” by Adrian Sims, followed by “Brandon Bay,” by Ed Huckeby. Stephen Sondheim’s “No One is Alone,” arranged by Robert Longfield, was performed next, followed by “Cups (When I’m Gone)’” arranged by Johnnie Vinson.The band finished with “Terracotta Warriors,” by Scott Watson.

Michaela Babic directed the junior high choir in “Yonder Come Day,” arranged by Adam Podd, featuruing a solo by Elizabeth Higgins. “Blue Moon,” arranged by Robert Emerson and featuring Elia Strawn and Izabell Butler, came next.The choir finished with Emerson’s arrangement of “Don’tYou Worry ‘Bout a Thing.”
