Patricia Ann (Lane) Roberts passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on the afternoon of Monday, December 26, 2022. A Celebration of Life ceremony was held Saturday, December 31, at High Butte Cemetery in McGrew, officiated by Pastor George Kilmer. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bridgmanfuneralhome. com for the Roberts family. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Patricia’s honor be made to Festival of Hope.
Patricia was the second daughter of John and Alice (McCarter) Lane, born in Bayard, NE, on December 5, 1936. She entered this world prematurely at a fragile weight of 3 pounds. Born at home, she was quickly transported without her mother to Scottsbluff Hospital. During her first six months in intensive care, the local milk man would visit the farm and pick up her mother’s milk to be delivered to the hospital to help her survive. What an amazing feat of perseverance to survive in the 1930s at that premature weight. She started out amazing and continued to be so throughout her life.
She graduated from Bayard High School in 1955. (It must be a good school because her son, Jim, started his teaching career there and continues to teach after 36 years.) Patricia continued her education at Hastings College and finished her formal pursuit of education after she received her Registered Nursing degree in Scottsbluff, NE. Her care for others did not outshine her true love for Delmar (Doc) Roberts. Right after she finished nursing school, she married Doc in 1960 and devoted her life to her children and husband. Doc and Pat just celebrated 61 years of marriage this December.
