The season came to an end for the Bridgeport Bombers senior legion baseball team last weekend at the Class C, Area 7 tournament in Imperial. Bridgeport dropped both games in the double-elimination tournament. In the opening contest, the Bombers faced top-seeded Imperial and lost a 9-1 decision to the hosts. Bridgeport managed to tie the score at 1-1 in the top of the second inning when Josh Kler scored on a hit by Ryker Norman. However, Imperial responded with six runs in the bottom of the inning to take commanding 7-1 advantage.They tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth to conclude the action.
Kler and Norman managed the only two hits in the game for the Bombers. Josh Paschke, Hayzen Elliot, and Cody Bates reached base with walks, while Kler, Paschke, and Bates each had a stolen base. Holden and Kaden Shultz both saw action on the mound. Holden Shultz started and struck out one. Kaden Shultz struck out three in three innings of relief.
The setback dropped the Bombers into an elimination game against Valentine. Bridgeport moved out to a 3-1 lead after two innings, but Valentine erupted for 12 runs in the top of the third to break things open.Valentine went on to secure a 16-5 victory to eliminate the Bombers.
