Three local veterans were awarded Quilts of Valor at the annual hamburger feed benefiting the Morrill County Veterans Service Office on August 13. A number of local people gave donations in exchange for a hamburger meal and stayed for the award ceremony.
Dewey L:uckinbill enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 10, 1969. He completed basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on May 4, 1970, with a Military Occupational Speciality (MOS) of 94B20 (Cook). Luckinbill was sent to Vietnam where he served until July 7, 1971. He returned to the states and was honorably discharged on July 11, 1971 at the rank of E-5. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal,Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service medal. Robert Landrigan was drafted into the U.S. Army on February 17, 1971. He completed basic and AIT at Fort Lewis, Washington.Tained as an Infantry Mortarman (MOS 11C), Landrigan received orders to Vietnam. At Fort Dix, New Jersey, his orders were changed to Heidelberg, Germany to program computers (MOS 74F) for 4-star General Michael S.
Davison, Commander in Chief of Headquarters, United States Army, Europe.While there, he was promoted to Specialist E-5.
