BOE approves 2024-25 budget

The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on September 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library. All board members were present. There were two action items; the first was the approval of the 2024-2025 budget as presented in the budget hearing and the approval of the resolution to the final tax request for the 2024-2025 budget year.

With the approval of the budget, the tax asking rate for the General Fund will drop from .953970 to .892543.The passage of LB 243 by the Unicameral puts an actual cap on what school districts can ask from the taxpayers. With the reduction in local asking the state will in turn increase what it gives the district to help makeup the difference.

1. Mr. Simmons reported that the elementary will be having their Character Counts Assembly on Sept. 20.
