With an impressive 36-12 road win over Hemingford last Friday, the Bridgeport football team polished off a 3-peat as district champions.
The win kept the Bulldogs unbeaten in district play since moving to 8-man two years ago, and improved their overall record to 5-2 on the season. Since dropping the opening two games of the campaign, Bridgeport has reeled off five wins in a row and will be in the postseason for a third straight year.
Against a Hemingford team that was also perfect in district play, the Bulldogs took early control by jumping out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter. Junior quarterback Nik Weibert hooked up with Gage Nein on a 44-yard touchdown pass to get the scoring started. Logan Levick rumbled in for a 2-yard touchdown later in the frame to push Bridgeport’s lead into double figures.
