Bulldog volleyball season comes to a close

The Bridgeport volleyball team wrapped up a successful season at the Class C-1, Sub-district 10 Tournament last week in Imperial.

Bridgeport opened the tournament with a 25-23, 2517, 25-21 sweep of Hershey in the first round before falling to traditional power Ogallala in the semifinals by scores of 25-12, 25-16, 25-11. The Bulldogs concluded their campaign with an impressive record of 20-12 under first-year head coach Grace Simmons.

“It has not been easy for the girls to have up to three coaches in their high school career, so Coach Stoltenberg, Coach Gasseling and I really wanted to ground the season in a sense of stability and a focus on the foundations,” Simmons said. “We expected a lot of the girls: to come ready to work hard each day and to be a model of character on and off the court. I’m so proud of how they stepped up to those responsibilities. We had a wonderful season, finishing with an overall record of 20-12.”
