For the first time in 11 years, the Leyton volleyball team is headed to the state tournament. The Warriors captured sub-district and district titles last week to punch their ticket to Lincoln.

Leyton (36-0) earned the top seed for the D-2 tournament and will face Meridian (20-10) in the first round today at 8 a.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Leyton’s postseason journey began when the Warriors hosted the D2-11 sub-district tournament last Monday and Tuesday in Dalton. After sweeping past Creek Valley in the semifinals, the Warriors earned a hard-fought 28-26, 19-25, 25-16, 27-25 win over Garden County in the final.
