Bridgeport Cheer Team competes at state level

On January 11, 2023, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee formally announced several sports would be officially recognized as such in America.These included Muaythai Federation, Cricket, Kickboxing, Lacrosse, and Cheer teams. USA Cheer welcomed the announcement and solidified the organization as the governing body of the cheerleading sport across the nation.

USA Cheer welcomed the announcement and solidified the organization as the governing body of the cheerleading sport across the nation.

In celebration of this milestone announcement, Bridgeport high school cheerleaders traveled to Grand Island to compete at the Nebraska state cheerleading competition Saturday, February 18. They competed in the C1 traditional category with ten other teams; Bridgeport tied Hershey Cheer for sixth place overall.

Bulldog Head Coach Michaela Ryan said of the event, “This was a great opportunity for every cheerleader around the state to show off their skills in different categories and be able to support all the other teams competing.”
