Ordinance vacating J Street north of 4th Street to be rescinded

New ordinance introduced would narrow J Street and still allow for maintenance of the street by the city

The Bridgeport City Council took the first step in rectifying a problem caused by the adoption of Ordinance 1003 vacating a portion of J Street earlier this year. The council voted to advance Ordinance 1012 to second reading Thursday evening, that would rescind Ordinance 1003.They also passed on first reading Ordinance 1013 that narrows J Street north of 4th Street to allow for access to property and maintenance by the city. Making J Street narrower also brings existing structures into compliance with zoning requirements.

Bryan Schluterbusch gave a report on public works. He stated that three city employees took the week-long training course and now have their Grade Six or backflow water license. He also mentioned that the Trinidad lift station has been repaired and is working properly. The road around the lagoons is in bad shape but the city employees think they can build up and grade those roads.
