The Bridgeport boys basketball team earned a runner- up finish at the Chadron Holiday Classic held last week at Chadron State College. Bridgeport was competing in the event for the first time.
After beating Valentine 56-49 in the semifinals, the Bulldogs advanced to the title game to face undefeated Ogallala.The Indians, one of the top teams in Class C-1, led from start to finish to capture the title with a 63-36 victory.
Ogallala moved out to a 26-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 44-20 advantage at halftime.The Indians outscored the Bulldogs 19-16 in the second half. Sawyer Smith led Ogallala with a game-high 25 points.
