Bulldog boys edge Chase County, fall in tight contests to Ogallala and Alliance

The Bridgeport boys basketball team continued its gauntlet of facing tough competition last week.

For the second straight game, the Bulldogs started the week with a matchup against undefeated Ogallala. The Indians handled the Bulldogs in the championship game of the Chadron Holiday Classic just a week prior. However, the rematch proved much different as Bridgeport pushed the state-rated opponent to the limit before falling 55-48. Bridgeport led 33-28 at halftime, but the Indians outscored the Bulldogs 27-15 in the second half to rally for the victory.

Hayes Watts led the Bulldogs offensively. He scored a game-high 20 points with a pair of 3-pointers.Watts also finished with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Landon Dean had a double-double for the Bulldogs.The sophomore post scored 13 points and grabbed a team-high 10 boards. Gage Nein finished with six points, three assists, and three steals. Colton Carrier had six rebounds.
