With an undefeated record and No. 1 seeding, the Leyton girls basketball team is a heavy favorite to win this week’s Minuteman Activities Conference Tournament championship.
The Warriors, who are 12-0 on the season, will play a semifinal game today at 3 p.m. at Bridgeport High School.The title game will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. in Bridgeport.
Leyton enters the tournament on the heels of a pair of lopsided victories over Bayard and Potter-Dix last week. In a 45-23 road win in Bayard, Zaili Benish led all scorers with 26 points. She also recorded seven steals. Shawnee Gamble finished with eight points, five rebounds, and seven steals. Sydney Fortune pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and led the Warriors with three assists. Ella Haley added nine rebounds and four steals, while Kaydence Haupt finished with six rebounds and three steals.
