Not one, not two, not three, not four, but make it five straight Western Trails Conference Tournament championships won by the Bridgeport High School girls basketball team.
The Bulldogs capped off that impressive feat by steamrolling through this year’s tournament last week at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff. After beating Gordon-Rushville 67-31 in the semifinals, Bridgeport followed that up with a 74-31 thumping of Kimball in the championship game to improve to improve to 19-1 on the season.
In the five straight championship game performances, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 372-157. Bridgeport has won seven WTC tourney titles overall since the first one was held in 1990.That’s now second alone behind Mitchell, which leads the way with 13.
