The Bridgeport wrestling teams concluded their seasons at the Nebraska state tournament last week in Omaha.
Five Bulldog girls competed on the state stage. As a team they placed 41st with 16 points. Although none were able to medal, four were able to win at least one match.
Elizabeth Menke won her first-round match wrestling at 120 pounds. Menke opened with a pin over Cherish Faircloth to reach the quarterfinals before falling by pin against Columbus Lakeview’s Lacy Lemburg. Menke bounced back with a pin against Sandhills Valley’s Saije Phelps, but was eliminated in the consolation third round after a loss to Superior’s Cheyenne Stacy.
