Bridgeport wrestlers conclude season at state

The Bridgeport wrestling teams concluded their seasons at the Nebraska state tournament last week in Omaha.

Five Bulldog girls competed on the state stage. As a team they placed 41st with 16 points. Although none were able to medal, four were able to win at least one match.

Elizabeth Menke won her first-round match wrestling at 120 pounds. Menke opened with a pin over Cherish Faircloth to reach the quarterfinals before falling by pin against Columbus Lakeview’s Lacy Lemburg. Menke bounced back with a pin against Sandhills Valley’s Saije Phelps, but was eliminated in the consolation third round after a loss to Superior’s Cheyenne Stacy. Menke finished her freshman season with a final record of 40-6.
