There were several interesting items on the agenda for Tuesday’s Morrill County Commissioners meeting.
Jack Berg, chair of the Morrill County Visitors Committee discussed several issues with the commissioners. He expressed a desire to put $62,000 of the committee’s funds into CDs.The proposal to light Courthouse and Jail Rock was debated, with the commissioners expressing concerns about getting community input on the project and that the county would need to approve the expenditure of funds. Berg stated that they were working on draft bylaws and a grant request form.The commissioners approved the reappointment and appointment of members to the visitors committee and appointed Commissioner Susanna Batterman to represent the county on the committee.
Sarah Paisley with the extension office discussed the need for a new vehicle due to the university’s withdrawal of funding for a state car. Due to a staff vacancy that has taken a long time to fill, there are sufficient unused funds in her budget to pay toward a vehicle. She mentioned that the Garden County Commissioners would be open to a cooperative agreement on a vehicle.The commissioners directed the county attorney to work with Garden County’s attorney to draft an interlocal agreement.
