For the first time since 1983, and only the fourth time in school history, Leyton girls have punched their ticket to state after knocking off a bigger and taller team of Parkview Christian, Lincoln, last week at Brady, 46-29.

Parkview Christian Patriots were the #2 seed in the D2 – 1 District standings, beating out #3 Lewiston by six before falling to Falls City Sacred Heart in sub district play last week by a score of 40-27.

Coming in as the #4 seed in district play, Parkview fell apart completely under the spell of #13 seed Leyton on Friday night in the District Championship game. The Warriors had won every game they’d played in February, scoring at least 60 points in all but one of the matchups, and didn’t blink when confronted with the older, more experienced team. The Patriots realized they were in trouble when the Lady Warriors ran away with seven unanswered points in the first quarter, forcing a time out to reorient themselves to the game at hand.
