Lady Warriors fall in first round of playoffs

For the first time in forty years, Leyton girls basketball team made their way last week to Lincoln to play in the Nebraska Sports Activities Association class D2 run for the state championship. The Lady Warriors earned the trip after taking out Lincoln’s Parkview Christian in the district matchup at Brady 46-29 the week prior.

The Lady Warriors earned the trip after taking out Lincoln’s Parkview Christian in the district matchup at Brady 46-29 the week prior.

Facing off in the first round against defending state champion Falls City Sacred Heart, the small by mighty panhandle team went in with high hopes, but just couldn’t match the speed and size of the Irish. Each quarter passed with Leyton scoring only in the single digits while Sacred Heart put up more than a dozen in each stanza.
