For the third straight year, the Bridgeport girls basketball team returned home with a trophy from the state tournament in Lincoln.The Lady Bulldogs earned a third-place finish in Class C-1, concluding their record-setting season with a final record of 26-1.The 26 wins tied the school record for most in a season. Last year’s team also totaled 26 wins.
In the first round, Bridgeport held off a talented Lincoln Christian squad 61-57 to reach the state semifinals for the third straight year. Against the Crusaders, the Lady Bulldogs were pushed to the limit. However, key buckets and free throws in the closing stages helped Bridgeport prevail.
Ruthie Loomis-Goltl led the way offensively with 18 points.
