Track season began at Morrill last Friday

Bridgeport teams placed in the top three spots in all relays at Morrill’s Early Bird track meet on Friday. In the 4x800 relay, Madison Ribble, Mackenzie Liakos, Brooklyn Mohrman and Alexis Hill placed 1st with a time of 11:17.77. In the 4x100 relay, Ella Schluterbusch, Olivia Loomis-Goltl, Mohrman, and Taylor Bright placed 2nd with a 54.15 time.The 4x400 relay team saw Schluterbusch, Lily Stull, Aubrey Watts and Hill place third with a time of 4:42.

In field events, Grace Dean placed 3rd in shot put with a personal record of 34 ft 6.5 in, while Megan Cline placed 4th with her personal best of 33 ft 3 in. Ruthie Loomis-Goltl took first in the discus throw with a throw of 116 ft 8 in, while Dean took second with 114 ft 6 in.

Other medal winners in the women’s division were, from Bridgeport: Ella Schluterbusch, 200m-2nd place Olivia Loomis-Goltl, Long Jump-3rd place Taylor Bright, 400m–4th place; Madison Ribble, 200m–6th place Alexis Hill, Pole Vault-6th place Medal winners from Leyton women’s team: Zaili Benish, 300m Hurdles-1st place Axi Benish, 3200m-2nd place Shawnee Gamble, 100m-3rd place; Long Jump, 4th place In the men’s division, Leyton Warriors’ Justin Ernest took two first place spots with his 400-meter dash and 800 meter run. He ran the 400m in 53.49 and the 800m in 2:07.66.
