Sixteen schools celebrate 16th annual Oregon Trail Band

The 16th annual Oregon Trail Honor Band, sponsored by Doane University, was held in Bridgeport’s auditorium Monday night, January 9. The all-day clinic saw high school students from multiple panhandle schools, and finished the day with a one-band concert, conducted by guest clinician Dr. Andrew D. Feyes, Director of Instrumental Music at Doane University. Feyes has served Doane as a director and also teaches courses in conducting and music methods, and lessons on the trumpet.

Band directors from the multiple high schools completed nomination forms for their students, with almost eighty students chosen to perform. The honor band played “Celebration,” by Randall Standridge, “Rainbow in the Clouds,” by Carol Brittin Chambers, “The CaveYou Fear,” by Michael Markowski, and “Mar y Cielo,” by Jorge Vargas.
