It was an Arabian night to remember for Aladdin, (Isaac Dean), in Bridgeport last weekend trying to find a date to the prom, when he stumbled into a cave of (not so great) wonders and found a magic lamp. The genie that came to his rescue offered him three wishes, which he used to meet Princess Dory (Emily Hunter). With the Mysterious One, (Alexis Colton), trying to steal the lamp from Aladdin, and the story changing to the whims of the sisters Scheherazade (Mila Soto) and Dinazade (Elia Strawn), who has the book of answers, telling the story, it was an event to remember.

On the way to the palace, Aladdin had to seek answers from wise genies, played by Julia Basa, Kayden Fisher and Weston Sigle, and his own mother, (Janessa Lussetto), to find a way to meet the princess and her family, the powerful Sultan (Drake Devrous) and Grand Vizier (Addison Spaur). This tale featured a set of friends, donkey (Rachel Freiberger) and goat (Izabelle Butler), the little genies, Sinbad (Jonathan Reimbers) and his sailors, camels (Pearl Simmons, Brielle Stoltenberg, and Emersyn Stull), stand-up comedian palm trees (Thomas Liras and Benjamin Simmons), two costume creating goofballs, Cassim (Santiago Gonzalez) and Ali Baba (Sam Babic), vagabonds, penguins, and more.

The hilarious comedy spin of the popular tale was brought to Bridgeport schools by Mr. and Mrs. Lambert and the Missoula Children’s Theatre. This is the sixth year of the weeklong production brought in. Students in Kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to attend tryouts on Monday afternoon. Over 50 youngsters then practice every night after school learning the songs, dance moves, and sript lines. They spend all day Saturday getting into costumes and taking the stage for the two afternoon performances. This year’s performance was accompanied by Michaela Babic on the clavinova, choir director at Bridgeport Schools.
